Preparing for Your Andaman Retreat

Everything you need to know about travelling to the retreat.

✈️ What airport should I fly into?

You will need to fly into Port Blair (Veer Savarkar International Airport) in the Andaman Islands.

There are currently no direct international flights, so guests will first fly into a major Indian city such as Chennai, Delhi, or Mumbai, before taking a short domestic flight to Port Blair. Chennai is often the easiest and most convenient connection point. Once you arrive in Port Blair, you will be greeted at the airport by our local team and transferred to the retreat accommodation

We’ve partnered with a trusted local travel guide  in the Andaman Islands, and they assist with airport transfers and local travel coordination during the retreat.

After booking, we’ll provide additional travel guidance to help you plan your journey smoothly.

🛂 Do I need a visa to travel to India?

Yes. Most international travellers — including guests from the UK and Australia — require a visa to enter India.

Here is the official Indian Government e-Visa website where guests can apply for the tourist visa:

👉 Apply for the Indian e‑Tourist Visa (Official Government Website)

This is the only official portal run by the Government of India for online visa applications.

  • Apply for the e-Tourist Visa

  • 1 month visa

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months

  • You’ll need a passport photo and a scanned passport copy

  • You can apply up to 120 days before travel

Many travellers receive approval within a few days, but it’s best to apply 3–4 weeks before the retreat for peace of mind.

If you’d like any support during your visa application, please feel free to get in contact with us. We’re always happy to help guide you through the process.

🌴 Do I need a permit to visit the Andaman Islands?

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are considered a protected region of India. However, most international tourists do not need to arrange a separate permit in advance.

For many nationalities travelling on a valid Indian tourist visa, the permit is granted automatically upon arrival at Port Blair airport.

If any permits are required during the retreat, they will be arranged as part of your itinerary.

Andaman Retreat Travel Guide

Preparing for your island escape is simple. Here are a few helpful tips for your journey.

Flights & Travel

Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date in India and that you have arranged your Indian visa if required for your nationality.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.

You will need return flights to Port Blair (Veer Savarkar International Airport) and we recommend keeping both printed and digital copies of important travel documents.

SIM Card & Connectivity

We recommend purchasing an Indian SIM card or eSIM when you first arrive in India at a major airport such as Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai, where options are more reliable than on the islands.

Money & Payments

While some places accept cards, smaller shops and local markets on the islands may only accept cash in Indian Rupees.

ATM availability can be limited in Port Blair and on Havelock Island, so we recommend withdrawing cash when you first arrive in India.

Bringing around 10,000 INR is usually enough for small purchases, cafes, souvenirs, and personal extras during your stay.

Clothing

The Andaman Islands are warm and tropical in November, so lightweight clothing such as cotton or linen works best.

Guests usually bring comfortable yoga clothes, swimwear, sandals, a beach cover-up or sarong, walking shoes, and a light layer for the evenings.

Yoga & Wellness

Many guests like to bring a reusable water bottle, a journal and pen, and any personal medication or supplements they may need. A small backpack or beach bag can also be useful for island outings.

Beach Essentials

We recommend bringing reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, and after-sun care.

Staying Connected

Before the retreat begins, we’ll create an optional WhatsApp group for guests.

This is a lovely way to ask questions, share travel updates, coordinate flights with other guests, and start connecting before arriving.

Joining is completely optional, and you’re always welcome to contact us directly instead.

Extending Your Stay

If you’d like to extend your time in the Andaman Islands before or after the retreat, you’re very welcome to do so.

We work with a trusted local travel coordinator, who organised our first trip to the Andaman Islands and can assist with additional accommodation, island transfers, excursions, or personalised travel plans if you wish to explore more of the islands.

“Perfect for Beginners”

“I joined the class because I wanted to do something for myself. I’m quite a nervous person and can easily feel intimidated, especially when a teacher stops the whole class to help me.

The way the girls teach is so much better suited for beginners. One keeps the class flowing while the other quietly offers support, so I never felt put on the spot. It made such a difference.

I absolutely loved yin — it became something I genuinely looked forward to every week.”

“I Didn’t Know How Much I Needed This”

“I did a weekend retreat with the girls in Heathcote. I’d never done yoga before — to be honest, my sister-in-law dragged me along! But wow… I’m so glad she did.

As a new mum, I didn’t realise how much I needed that time out. I loved the meditations, especially the silent walking one, and kundalini was such a surprise — my mind is always busy, and it really helped me switch off.

I’ve taken some of the practices home with me and even joined a yoga studio where I live now. So grateful I went — thank you girls!”

“Spot on-- Just what I needed”

“I was new to yoga and travelling on holiday when I found Tiffany and Melissa’s studio near my hotel, so I thought I’d give it a go and booked a private session. I’m really glad I did.

Since retiring from the ambulance service, I’ve realised how much yoga helps me slow down and properly relax. The 90-minute class with meditation, yin and yoga nidra was spot on — just what I needed.

I didn’t want to stop practicing just because I was away, so I really appreciated them fitting me in. We had a good chat about life too, which made it all feel easy and comfortable.

The girls are down to earth and easygoing. It was refreshing. I’d happily recommend them.”
